About Henrys Scenic Reserve

Henrys Scenic Reserve protects a pocket of native bush on the Patumahoe escarpment, with the Whangamaire Stream cutting through the gully below. The reserve’s main feature is a 15-metre waterfall that drops in a narrow cascade over the rock face, accessible via a short track from the car park on Hunter Road.

The walk is approximately 20 minutes return — climbing 68 feet in elevation through bush that includes native ferns and trees — arriving at a wooden viewing platform that gives a clear view of the waterfall and the stream pool below. The track is well maintained and suitable for reasonably active families, though the gradient means it’s not suitable for pushchairs.

It’s one of the more accessible waterfalls in the Pukekohe area, given how close it is to town and how short the walk is. There’s no entry fee and a small car park at the start of the track provides parking.
