About the Markets

Pukekohe’s three markets each have a distinct character — the Franklin Market is the weekly anchor, the Farmers & Artisans Market draws seasonal producers once a month, and The Makers’ Market focuses entirely on handcrafted goods.

Franklin Market

The Franklin Market has run every Saturday for over 22 years, making it Pukekohe’s most established market. It operates from the public carpark on Massey Avenue, 8am to noon. Stalls cover a wide range: fresh local produce, fish, plants and flowers, clothing, books, tools, garden furniture, preserves, and food vendors. Live music is a regular feature on Saturday mornings. Contact 0274 480 842 for stallholder enquiries.

Pukekohe Farmers & Artisans Market

The Pukekohe Farmers & Artisans Market runs on the first Sunday of the month from September through June, 9am–12:30pm in the Town Square on King Street. The focus is on local producers and artisans: artisan breads, preserves, fudge, raw honey, free range eggs, cheese, salami, baked treats, fresh plants, and flowers. Local cafes around the square provide breakfast and coffee. The market is supported by the Pukekohe Business Association and Eke Panuku Auckland Development.

The Makers’ Market

The Makers’ Market is a boutique craft market held on the first Saturday of the month at Franklin: The Centre, 12 Massey Avenue, surrounding Alyssum Cafe. Stalls focus on handmade and artisan goods: designer prints on wood and paper, scented soy candles, handstitched fabric designs, baby accessories, bath bombs and body scrubs, original art, and heirloom bears. Alyssum Cafe is on site for coffee and food while you browse. The market is organised by Franklin Community Arts.

Planning Your Visit

The Franklin Market runs every Saturday year-round so there’s no scheduling needed. The Farmers & Artisans Market and The Makers’ Market both fall on the first weekend of the month — the first Saturday has two markets (Franklin Market on Massey Ave and The Makers’ Market also on Massey Ave at Franklin: The Centre), and the first Sunday has the Farmers & Artisans Market at the Town Square on King Street.

Pukekohe’s town centre is compact — Massey Avenue and King Street are a short walk apart, making it easy to visit multiple markets on a market weekend. Parking is available in council carparks and on-street throughout the centre.

What Visitors Say

The Franklin Market on Massey Avenue draws consistent praise from visitors for its variety and relaxed Saturday morning atmosphere — fresh produce, live music, and a genuine community market feel that has built up over more than two decades.
