What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from December 2025. ERO found that the school had worked with its Kāhui Ako and mana whenua Ngāti Tamaoho on a local curriculum that strengthens te reo and tikanga Māori, with regular te reo Māori lessons for students. It described students with a strong sense of belonging, teachers who know their learners well and teach in a clear, structured way, and good partnerships with whānau and the community.

Most students meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in reading and maths, and a large majority do so in writing, but results are not yet equitable across all groups of learners.

ERO found the school has improved progress for students most at risk of not achieving only to some extent since its previous review.

A large majority of students attend regularly, and the school is approaching the government’s regular attendance target with a suitable plan in place. Its priorities are to help students set their own learning goals and assess their own progress, embed te ao Māori in teaching with a focus on Māori learners’ success, use internal evaluation to make outcomes more equitable, and keep lifting attendance.
