What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from November 2025. ERO found good quality teaching, rich learning opportunities across the curriculum, hands-on learning that keeps students engaged, and learners with complex needs well supported.

The curriculum links to community aspirations and to the Ngāti Tamaoho education plan. A large majority of learners meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in reading, with equitable results, but only a small majority do so in writing and in mathematics, where results are not yet equitable for all groups.

Attendance is a concern: a small majority of learners attend regularly, the school is behind the Government target, and ERO found attendance not yet improving and chronic absence not yet falling.

ERO also found the board was not meeting personnel management requirements for staff appointment records, including safety and background checks, and had yet to fix this. The priorities are targeted writing support, more equitable results for Māori and Pacific learners, a consistent mathematics programme across the school, clearer teaching expectations and better attendance.

Enrolling

Students who live in the school’s home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. When the school offers out-of-zone places, it announces them and its ballot dates on its Before Enrolling page.

Enrolment is through an online form, but the school is not notified when a form is submitted, so families should also contact the school to arrange a meeting. Two forms of proof of address are required before a student can be enrolled.
