Suspensions: fewer than 5 cases in 2025, so no rate is shown.
These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from May 2024. ERO noted the school is organised into six learning communities built around its HEART values. It found pastoral care rests on strong relationships and partnerships with community agencies, with students at the centre of decisions.
ERO also pointed to deliberate curriculum planning backed by extracurricular options to lift engagement, sound induction for new students and staff, and good use of tracking in the learning communities to support target students.
ERO and the school are looking at how well internal evaluation guides strategic decisions on student wellbeing, progress and achievement, including reducing disparity between groups of learners.
The school’s next steps are to review its current evaluation systems to see what is working, build a plan with clear timeframes for a more collaborative evaluation culture, and use what it learns to set next steps for lifting progress across the school.

Enrolling
Pukekohe Intermediate has an enrolment scheme, so students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered each year under the scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The school publishes its out-of-zone application and ballot dates on its enrolment page.
Year 6 students at the contributing schools receive enrolment information during the year, and other families can enrol online or collect an enrolment pack from the school. An original birth certificate, or a passport and visa for students born overseas, must be sighted before an enrolment is confirmed.
