What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from December 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well targeted actions lift literacy results and make them fairer for the students who need it most.

ERO noted that the school hosts a satellite unit of Parkside Special School on site, and pointed to an inclusive, caring environment where students feel they belong and are engaged, staff chosen for a mix of skills who build a collaborative culture, and shared leadership that is modelling deeper reflection on practice.

Next, the school plans to refine the processes that lift achievement and equity, make stronger use of assessment information to show how fast students are progressing and to target teaching, and keep building learning partnerships with parents and whānau along with its skill in evaluating its own work.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, and the school’s zone information page links to a detailed zone map. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places.

New entrants start in cohorts at the start and midpoint of each term, after pre-start visits, and the school publishes the cohort start and visit dates on its website each year.
