What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from December 2024. ERO found that most students are engaged and achieve at or above expected curriculum levels in literacy and mathematics, and that Māori students have made significant gains in literacy over time.

Students with additional learning needs are well supported, and ERO described leadership, professional learning and the use of internal evaluation as well established, with plenty of learning tied to the local area. A satellite unit of Parkside Special School is on site.

ERO noted that a gap remains for Māori learners in reading and writing, that girls still do better than boys in writing, and that a majority of students attend regularly, close to the Ministry target.

The agreed next steps are to keep lifting progress, achievement and attendance with targeted teaching for priority learners, to make assessment and learning progressions more consistent so students understand their own learning, and to build every teacher’s evaluation skills.
