What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from May 2026. ERO notes that a commissioner has carried out the board’s governance role since late 2024, and an experienced principal was appointed in 2025.

ERO found the school has strengthened its culture through positive behaviour and pastoral systems and more student voice, students with additional needs are well supported, and most students achieve NCEA Level 2, with a large majority gaining Level 1.

ERO also raised concerns. A small majority of learners in Years 1 to 8 meet expectations in reading, writing and maths, about a third gain University Entrance, merit and excellence endorsements stay low, and achievement is not yet equitable for Māori students.

Only a small majority attend regularly, with no improvement yet. Priorities include a curriculum updated to match national changes, checking the impact of professional learning, sharper use of data in planning, stronger links with whānau and mana whenua, and a more effective attendance plan.

Out-of-zone places are offered under the enrolment scheme, in priority order, by ballot when a priority group has more applicants than places. The school advertises out-of-zone places, application details and any ballot in a local newspaper notice.
